8th Grade
Mr. Nash, 8th Gr. Assistant Principal
Dear Eighth Grade Students & Families,
Welcome back to Irwin Altman Middle School 172 for the 2024-2025 academic school year! My name is Myles Nash and I have been an assistant principal in District 26 for the past ten years; yet I am really looking forward to returning this year to the expected success of all of my MS172 Eighth Graders whom I will be serving as Assistant Principal for this third and final year of your middle school journey. (Most of us have developed a rapport over the past 2 years of 6th and 7th grades, but for new students, start with being ready to “show what you know” as a ‘professional learner’ and introduce yourself to me later - I’m very approachable.)
As a middle school “senior” year, we will be focusing on being prepared for overall wellness (being responsible, safe, and leading by example) and showing academic progress (following the ‘ABCs’ of Academic Success of Attendance [Be in school to win everyday], Behaviors [because actions speak louder than words], & Communication [by talking calmly about your intentions]). Your ability to fight procrastination (keeping to your planner’s goals & deadlines), communicate with those around you (keeping peers, teachers, and family aware of the gradual improvements), and showing your best efforts will help to make this both a memorable year of your leadership in the school and comforting in preparation for a bright future in high school. I am so impressed by how you have shown that you are investing your time well (being 'professional') and have gotten the positive results (good grades recognizing your work as a learner). I, along with the eighth-grade team and support staff, look forward to supporting all of you in whatever academic or social-emotional needs may arise this year. Together we will make this an amazing school year!
Yours in Education,
Nash
